According to a national study recently released, students want to be able to use banned mobile devices in the classroom, and parents also want this access for their children.
"The New 3 E's of Education: Enabled, Engaged and Empowered = How Today's Students Are Leveraging Emerging Technologies for Learning", put together by Project Tomorrow as part of the Speak Up 2010 Report presented to the U.S. Congress, shows how much mobile technology is desired in the classroom.
According to the study:
- 67% of parents said they would purchase mobile device for their child to use for schoolwork, if school allowed it
- 53% of 6th-12th grade students said inability to use mobile devices was largest obstacle when using technology in school
